Montessori Practical Life Activity: Walking on the Line

Montessori activity of ‘Walking on the Line.’ In the classroom, there is typically an ellipse on the floor, and a child practices control by walking one foot in front of the other, sometimes holding an item to balance as a point of interest! Walking on the Line is a full body exercise. It refines muscular coordination, helps align the spine, and develops poise and body control. In addition, the activity promotes cognitive development as the child must concentrate greatly to control movement and body position in relation to others.
