To attain success in the highly competitive world we live in, academic excellence is no longer the only key to success. There are many skills other than studies our kids have to acquire to thrive. But, how does one get these skills? As parents, one easy way to inculcate such skills in our children is to make a timetable for kids at home.

Time tables help kids focus, stay active, learn multitasking and time-management skills, be disciplined and organized, and lead a productive life. In this article, we will see how to prepare an innovative study timetable for kids.

Let us now see how to make a daily timetable for kids, which will include important aspects like their schedule from dusk to dawn and a detailed explanation of how to plan a kid’s subject-wise study timetable.

Time Table for Kids at Home

Aim for Balance

On any given day, make sure you prepare a timetable that will allow kids to do all the activities, mainly their academics and extracurricular activities. Try to balance the routine by providing equal time for both:

# Board games and Math’s puzzles.

# Study and Playtime.

# Indoor and outdoor activities.

# Alone time and family time.

# Focused learning and Hobbies.

Subject Wise Study Time Table

Apart from all the other activities, scheduling academics is also important. Kids should learn to have a proper balance between academics and extracurricular activities. To achieve that, there is a need for a creative subject wise study timetable that will help children give enough time for studies and their all-around development.

Steps to Organize a Timetable

Here is a description of how to organize the subject wise study timetable:

#1 See the number of subjects and the number of hours you want your kid to study in a day.

#2 Now try to give equal time to all the subjects.

#3 If you feel that your kid is extremely active in one subject and a little less in the other, you can give more time to the weaker subject until they progress in that one.

#4 Try to help them study and understand what’s taught on the same day as this will help them remember better.

#5 Do not overwhelm them with the study hours; divide the subjects into two different sets and allocate study hours to each set on alternate days of the week.

Backup Plan for kids

Example

For example, if your kid has four subjects and you want to allow two hours for some serious study every day, then divide the time into 30 mins each for every subject or 1 hour each for two subjects on the same day and the other two subjects on the next day.

Timetable One

If you think they are better in Math’s and not that great in Science, allot 15 more minutes for Science to help them catch up.

Monday Subject 1, Subject 2
Tuesday Subject 3, Subject 4
Wednesday Subject 1, Subject 2
Thursday Subject 3, Subject 4
Friday Revision/Exam
Saturday Revision/Exam

Timetable Two

If your child is preparing subject 1 and subject 2 today, divide the two hours so that your kids will have a revision of yesterday’s syllabus and continue with the new topics taught today.

6:00-6:30 PM (30 mins) Subject 1 previous syllabus revision
6:30-7:00 PM (30 mins) Study of Subject 1 current topics
7:00-7:30 PM (30 mins) Subject 2 previous syllabus revision
7:30-8:00 PM (30 mins) Study of Subject 2 current topics

Timetable Three

If your kid is a little weak in a subject, say Subject 3 and better in Subject 4, then, if required, you can allot a few mins of extra time to that subject taking away from the other until your child gets better at it.

6:00-6:45 PM (45 mins) Subject 3 revision of previous topics
6:45-7:15 PM (30 mins) Study of subject 3 current topics
7:15-8:00 PM (30 mins) Study of subject 4

If the schedule has a serious study routine everyday, then parents or kids do not have to stress even at the time of exams as they’ll already be ready. If such an innovative study timetable is followed, no extra time will even be required before the exams.

This is how we can organize a kid’s subject-wise study timetable to help them excel in their studies.

Effective Study Plan For Kids

Backup Plan

Kids sometimes become bored and don’t feel like doing any task given to them, whether it’s a fun activity or serious study time. At this point, instead of forcing them to complete their task, try to lift their mood by being ready with some of their favorite activities, like:

#1 Comic book reading.

#2 Listening to audiobooks.

#3 Playing board games.

#4 Drawing.

#5 Playing with the pet.

#6 Gardening.

#7 Writing journal.

#8 Taking a walk.

#9 Helping parents in the kitchen to make their favorite recipe.

#10 Spending time with grandparents.

Conclusion

Be friendly with your kids, involve them in preparing their timetable, talk to them, and ask them how they want it to be. Stick it in places where your kids can see it. Time tables must help organize their day, but in no way force them to follow it.

Try to be as innovative as you can in making a timetable and giving them proper time for all the activities that help in overall development.
